Mesopotâmia: “terra entre rios” (Tigre e Eufrates);
Tais rios nascem nas montanhas da Armênia;
O solo era fértil graças as cheias periódicas dos rios (humos);
Composta por três regiões: Assíria (norte), Acad (centro), Sumer (sul);
Região de fácil aces-
so, permitindo sucessi-
vas invasões (sumérios,
Acádios, amoritas, assí-
rios e caldeus).

Primeiros habitantes da mesopotâmia;
Escrita cuneiforme;
Cidades-Estado (patesis);
Dominaram os semitas (nômades);
Acabaram caindo sob domínio dos Acádios;

Fixaram-se na região central da Mesopotâmia (3000 a.C.);
Destaca-se o rei Sargão I, que unificou a Mesopotâmia;
Em 2180 a.C., as cidades sumérias libertaram-se do domínio acádio

Semitas reagiram e dominaram os Acádios;
Surge a grande cidade Babilônia;
Hamurábi (Código inspirado na Lei do Talião);
Foram dominados pelos hititas;

Maior reinado: Assurbanípal;
Maior obra: biblioteca de Nínive;
Maior característica: crueldade com os vencidos;

O império assírio caiu por revoltas e disputas internas e ataques de uma aliança externa (medos e caldeus);
A Babilônia voltou a florescer (Nabucodonosor, Torre de Babel, Jardins Suspensos...);
Conquistada pelos persas;

ESCRITA:
Cuneiforme, herança dos sumérios.
RELIGIÃO:
Politeísmo antropomórfico (eram representados à imagem e semelhança dos seres humanos );
Havia deuses cósmicos (ar, terra, mar) e astrais (sol, lua, planetas)
